Our First Lady doin Righteous Stuff
First Lady Michelle Obama left the glittering splendor of the White House on Thursday to visit one of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation’s capital to push, prod and inspire struggling high school students. Her visit to a public school marked the start of a star-studded career day organized by Mrs. Obama, who said she had long dreamed of gathering an “amazing group of women” to talk to young people.
On Thursday, the first lady and 21 other prominent women – including singers Sheryl Crow and Alicia Keyes, former astronaut Mae C. Jemison, the actress Alfre Woodard and the makeup maven Bobbi Brown – scattered to public and private schools across the region in honor of Women’s History Month.
At Anacostia High School, the site of a violent melee in November that sent several young people to the hospital with stab wounds, Mrs. Obama gave hugs, slapped knees and sat down in a semi-circle with 13 students, who were all juniors and seniors.

A Damn Shame

JANUARY 23--Add heroin to the scores of products that have been branded with President Barack Obama's name. Cops in upstate New York this week broke up a drug ring that allegedly sold heroin under several brand names, including "Obama." As seen in Sullivan County Sheriff's Office photos, the president's surname was stamped in red ink on small glassine wrappers that were peddled by street dealers. Investigators arrested five suspects for their alleged roles in the narcotics distribution activity. The branding of illicit drugs is a favorite of pushers, who have previously sold bin Laden heroin, Harry Potter Ecstasy, bricks of Teletubbies cocaine, and green-tinted crack in recognition of St. Patrick's Day.

Damn, Already wrecking shop on his first day
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's first public act in office Wednesday was to institute new limits on lobbyists in his White House and to freeze the salaries of high-paid aides, in a nod to the country's economic turmoil.Announcing the moves while attending a ceremony in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to swear in his staff, Obama said the steps "represent a clean break from business as usual."
The pay freeze would hold salaries at their current levels for the roughly 100 White House employees who make over $100,00 a year.

I had a big post about this 2009 Innaguration weekend planned. I wanted to discuss the swearing in ceremony on the National Mall; I wanted to talk about Jeezy's Innaguration Ball @ Love; I wanted to talk about the crazy tourists everywhere in DC; I wanted to talk about the fight I saw on the metro; I wanted to talk about my Stepdad & Mommy (We'll just refer to her as New Mom on the Blog) coming out and getting to experience it all, as well as getting to go to a taping of the Oprah Show; I wanted to talk about all the vendors with all the crazy Obama merchandise; I wanted t talk about the fire ass Jay-Z remix to "My President is Black"; I wanted to talk about the concert @ the Lincoln Memorial; I wanted to talk about how I hated the dress Michelle wore to the balls but really fucked with everything else she donned this weekend; I wanted to talk about Re Re the Body singing "My country Tis of Thee"; I wanted to talk about Civil rights legend Joseph Lowery's closing speech that ethered Mr. president's, and I wanted to talk about how experiencing this weekend with the people I loved made it even more legendary; But I saw these pictures on Gawker this morning at work and thought it would be more fitting that this be all I show. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the only word that comes to my mind for each and every one of these photos is just........
